Shane Ragland, the man who pled guilty for shooting and killing University of Kentucky football player, Trent Giuro, is being sued in a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the DiGiuro family.

In 2002, Shane Ragland was convicted of murder and sentenced to 30 years in prison. He was accused of targeting DiGiuro in revenge for keeping him out of a fraternity. He won a new trial, but instead of facing a new trial chose to plead guilty to manslaughter.

Ragland's lawyer says his client's guilty plea does not automatically hold him liable for the 1994 murder. He says a jury should decide whether or not he should be held liable.
