Shelby County Deputy Involved In Accident With Train

Deputy Paul Dugle's cruiser was struck in the rear as he crossed the tracks just off Kings Highway in Waddy, KY. He was taken by ambulance to a local truck stop and flown to University of Louisville Hospital, where he was in critical but stable condition.

Dugle had been at the firing range just north of the Norfolk Southern railroad tracks with Rice and other officers Friday morning. As his sheriff's vehicle crossed the railroad tracks about 10:20 he was struck in the rear passenger side by an eastbound train. The train dragged Dugle's cruiser about 150 feet before the car came to rest in between the double tracks. The accident occurred at a private railroad crossing off Kings Highway in Waddy, just west of the Shelby County Compaction Center.
