Kentucky State Police are Cracking Down of Drivers of Commercial Vehicles and Interstate Trucks in Kentucky

Wednesday was D-Day for Kentucky State Police in an effort to prevent Interstate Trucking Wrecks and Commericial Vehicle Crashes. State Police hit every Interstate possible in order to enforce speed and reckless driving of the big rigs. Commercial Vehicle and Interstate Trucking News Article.

The Kentucky State Police are referring to their efforts as Operation Safe Driver. Officials say the 12% of all Kentucky Highway Accidents involving Commercial Vehicles are fatal. 2007 saw over 8,000 Commercial Vehicle Wrecks in Kentucky and Officials want to lower that number in 2008.

One Commericial Vehicle Wreck in January in Franklin County involved a fatality and one in McCracken County last November ended with a fatality. Fatalities and Serious Injuries are why Law Enforcement will take to the Kentucky Highways and Interstates. Their focus in on prevention.
