A couple from Ashland, Mark and Teresa Stone, were killed around 5:55 Sunday in a motorcycle/car accident.

Mark, age 55, was driving eastbound on Kentucky 733 when he lost control of his motorcycle on an S-curve, crossed the center line, and hit another car. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His wife, age 56, was airlifted to a hospital and died at 9:15 that night.

Motorcycle accidents and fatalities have been on the rise since 1997. In 2004, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued an alarming report, stating that 4008 motorcyclist died and 76,000 were injured. An article on FreeAdvice.com gives more statistics based on motorcycle accidents.
