Wednesday morning the crash site is still burning where a CSX train derailed yesterday morning with 80 freight cars, some of which were carrying hazardous materials. Firefighters used a foam to try to extinguish the fire on a few cars but over all it was to be allowed to burn out. I-65 has reopened but may still have some more closure at some point. The shelter was still open today at Okolona Christian Church. Brooks Elementary School remained closed today. Some residents living east of I-65 have been allowed to return home, others have not. The EPA has stated there has been an unknown chemical found at several tributaries to the Salt River on the surface, it isn't known if it is from the crash at this time. They will also be checking wells in the area to see if they have been contaminated.
