Thursday evening around 6 p.m. an accident claimed the lives of a South Carolina couple and injured two others. According to police the South Carolina couple were northbound on I-75 in Whitley County when they lost control and crossed the median striking a pickup truck head-on. The car then moved on to hit a tractor trailer. The couple were pronounced dead at the scene. The tractor trailer driver was uninjured. The two people in the pickup truck were sent to the U.T. Medical Center, one of the victims was the Vice Mayor of Sevierville, TN. Both men were in stable condition. Everyone was wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
