An accident early Thursday morning claimed the life of a driver of a Mitsubishi Mirage at the intersection of Southside Drive and New Cut Road. The driver was heading west when it crashed with an eastbound van on Southside Drive about 6:15 a.m. The driver of the van and his 10 year old passenger were taken to University Hospital and Kosair Children's Hospital. Their injuries appeared to be non-life threatening. Police have not determined the cause of the accident. One of the vehicles may have been attempting to turn when the accident happened.
