Tuesday about 7:46 a Draffin man was crossing the tracks at Pond Creek Road in his truck when he was struck by a CSX train. The train had just dropped off some coal and only had four locomotives and two crew members at the time of the accident. He is listed in critical condition after being transported from Pikeville Medical Center and later to St. Mary's Medical Center. Kentucky State Police and CSX will be further investigating the crossing signal and block box to determine the cause of the accident. In Kentucky last year there were 125 accidents with CSX and 10 were fatal. There were 38 incidents at crossings resulting in four fatalities last year.
