Thanksgiving is a busy holiday for roads in Kentucky. Many people are traveling to family's homes and also it is one of the busiest shopping times of the year. Last Thanksgiving during the 4 day holiday there were 1,132 vehicle crashes in Kentucky, of those 12 people died and 367 were injured. Nine of the fatalities were not wearing seatbelts. Many of these accidents could have been avoided. Troopers will be operating safety checkpoints statewide and enhanced road patrols beginning at 6 p.m. Wednesday, November 22nd and ending at 11:59 on Sunday, November 26th. The Kentucky State Police website offers several safe driving tips for this holiday season.
