3-Year Old Injured In Car Wreck

A Metropolis woman is charged with operating on a suspended license and no insurance after a car wreck on Husbands Road.

Witnesses reported seeing Hope Jones driving uncontrollably just before the wreck happened. Also in the vehicle were her two daughters, one of which is in serious condition due to head trauma. The 3-year old, Alexis Ponce, was rushed to Lourdes Hospital and later air-lifted to Vanderbilt Medical Center.

Bicyclist Killed in Collision With Kentucky State Trooper

Christopher W. Roberts, a five-year veteran of the Kentucky State Police, accidentally struck two bicyclists on Sunday evening when he swerved to avoid a car that had stopped in the street.

The first bicyclist, Chris Powers, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Laurel County Coroner, Doug Bowling. Kevin Alshouse was the second bicyclist and was treated at the scene for minor injuries. Roberts was treated for minor injuries as well.

This is another in a long list of Accidents lately in Kentucky involving Police Cruisers and Car/bicycle/pedestrians.

Kentucky State Police Cruiser Collides With SUV

A Kentucky State Police Cruiser collided with an SUV on Wednesday in Laurel County. Ashley Angel was taken to the University of Kentucky Hospital with serious injuries. She was a passenger in the SUV that her husband Curtis was driving. He was treated for minor injuries at St. Joseph Hospital.

Trooper Parish Baker was responding to another emergency, eastbound on Hal Rogers Parkway, when he collided with the Angels Kia at the intersection of KY 30. The accident is still under investigation.

Murray Kentucky Police Officer Indicted

An article on wpsdlocal6.com tells us that a Murray Police Officer will appear in court in two weeks to answer reckless driving charges from a wreck that ended with the death of Everett Ray Walker.

Although emergency signals were activated at the time of the wreck, Patrolman Cooper and Walker hit head-on on while Cooper was responding to an emergency call. Walker was later pronounced dead at Murray-Calloway County Hospital. A similar article from murrayledger.com, says that a later autopsy determined his death resulted from multiple blunt force trauma.

Cooper is due in court on September 8.

Kentucky Hit and Run Criminal Case Goes to Grand Jury in Lexington

Shannon Houser has waived his rights to a formal hearing and thus his Criminal Case will be turned over to the Fayette County Grand Jury. He is charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident and Tampering with Physical Evidence. This is the Hit and Run Accident that claimed national news attention because the Accident led to the death of University of Kentucky Freshman, Connie Blount of Park City Utah.

The Kentucky Hit and Run Accident Case will now be heard by the Grand Jury. If they return an Indcitment then Houser could face from 1 to 5 years in Prison on the Tampering With Physical Evidence Charge as that charge is a Felony. Leaving the Scene of an Accident was a Misedemeanor but has since been signed into law as a Felony starting in July 2008.

There is no word yet if the Family of Connie Blount will file a Kentucky Wrongful Death Civil Suit. Generally, the Civil Suit comes after any Criminal Action.

Western Kentucky Cheerleader Seriously Injured in Kentucky Auto Accident

Billy Webb and 17 year old Western Kentucky Cheerleading Recruit Tyler Madison were involved in a weekend Auto Accident in Bowling Green Kentucky. Webb is listed in Serious Condition at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville Tennessee.

This Kentucky Auto Accident happened just after midnight on May 3 on Patton Way in Bowling Green Kentucky. The automobile that Webb and Madison were in was sitting in the middle of the road. Authorities do not know all the facts at this point and the investigation is ongoing.

Good question. You can normally expect to be hassled and put through the ringer.....all this before an Insurance Adjuster tells you that your case is worth a fraction of what it is really worth.

Not all Insurance Company Adjusters are this bad. I happen to be working with one on a case right now that is the most courteous and professional adjuster that I have ever worked with. She calls me back when she says she will and she keeps promises. But I am an Attorney with many years of experience in this field and it is not always this way.

Kentucky Hit and Run Accident Case Leads to Change in the Law

Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear signed a bill into law that makes it a Felony to Leave the Scene of a Kentucky Hit and Run Injury Accident. Until today it had only been Misdemeanor punishable by up to year in Jail. When this bill takes effect in July 2008 it will be a Class D Felony punishable by up to five years in Prison and up to a $10,000.00 fine.

The bill was in response to the Kentucky Hit and Run Wrongful Death of a fourteen year old boy in Owensboro back in 2006. The most recent publicized case of Kentucky Hit and Run Wrongful Death involved a University of Kentucky Freshman Connie Blount.

Kentucky ATV Accidents Are on The Rise--Part 1

It is no secret that ATV accidents in Kentucky are on the rise......as well as many other states. Several Months ago there were two separate accidents in Kentucky that resulted in deaths. Young people are the most susceptible to injury or death.

This is a first in a series of articles where we will discuss ATV Accidents. We will specifically focus on teen accidents. I plan on interviewing some teen riders to sort of shed some light on the mindsets that lead to so many of these accidents.
