The crash that killed two and injured around 66, some critically, had several contributing factors. The bus was a 1995 model and at first the model could not be identified because the tags were expired and registered to another bus. The bus was also only equipped to handle 55 passengers, there were 66 on it at the time of the crash. One person said children were sitting wherever the could. Perhaps the most disturbing and the major contributing factor is preliminary reports say the driver fell asleep and hit the concrete overpass doing more than the speed limit of 65 miles-per-hour. There was not adequate sleeping arrangements for the driver. Moving to a passenger seat during a break for sleep is not legal when a co-driver takes over. Drivers are required by a federal law to sleep in an actual bed and log that time. Civil litigation against the company could be forthcoming since the driver of the bus died this week from his injuries.
