William Preston is trying to bring awareness to the dangers of cell phone usage while driving. Drennon resident John T. Sharp was killed while riding his motorcycle when a car crossed into his lane and struck him. The person driving the vehicle was dialing her cell phone when she swerved into his lane.

According to the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, cell phone distraction causes approximately 2,600 deaths each year in the United States. Drivers who talk on cell phones while driving increase the risk of causing an accident by 400 percent. There is no law in Kentucky banning the usage of cell phone while driving, so motorists need to be aware of the risks and drive cautiously.
