Wednesday morning around 8 a.m. a 31 year old Bardstown woman was driving her SUV on Ky. 55 when she crossed the median. The SUV crashed head on into a tractor-trailer hauling heavy equipment. The SUV and truck both caught fire, the woman and three children ages 1, 7 and 6 were all killed. The tractor-trailer driver was treated and released from a Lebanon hospital.

"Kevin Devine, emergency management director for Washington County, said it was one of the worst accidents he had seen in 16 years in his position.
"It's a tough situation to take in, no matter who it is," he said.
He said rescue workers were receiving crisis counseling."
