Early Wednesday about 8:15 a.m. a pickup truck collided with a semi-tractor trailer on Kentucky 55 South. A 17-year-old Shelbyville teenager collided with the semi as he was exiting I-64 East when he tried to speed up to get ahead of the semi that was heading north. He then apparently lost control of his Ford F150 pickup and it spun in front of the semi. The teenager had to be cut from his vehicle. He was taken to Jewish Hospital with what police described as non-life threatening injuries. The 50-year old driver of the semi was not injured in the accident.
