Thursday morning around 7 a.m. a 12-year-old girl was on her way to catch her bus. She was crossing southbound, at the intersection of Beech street and Algonquin Parkway, when she was struck by a 22-year-old driver who was driving a Red GMC sport utility vehicle. It was dark at the time of the incident and the girl was wearing dark clothing. The driver had the green light and the right-of-way. The young girl was taken to Kosair Children's Hospital where she was later pronounced dead. The 22-year-old driver was cited for driving on a suspended license according to Louisville Metro Police.
