Rockcastle County Kentucky Wreck On Interstate 75 Leaves One Dead

A massive crash in Rockcastle County Kentucky has left the driver of a Semi Truck Dead and several others injured. Kentucky Accident Video and News Story.

The crash happened just after midnight Monday Morning. A Van and a Car collided in the Southbound Lanes of Interstate 75 and then the Van crossed over into the North Bound Lanes. The Semi Tractor Trailer Truck in an attempt to avoid the Van rear ended a car and then flipped on its side. The driver, Tommy Kelley of London Kentucky was killed.

Kelley was driving a Somerset Food Service Tractor Trailer. This Multiple Car Kentucky Accident left Kelley dead and the driver of the Pick up Truck in the hospital with Injuries.

Traffic was stalled in both the North and South Bound Lanes for hours.

Interstate 57 and 24 Temporarily Shut Down to Salvage Wrecked Semi-Trucks

Two different Interstate closures were needed on Monday to salvage Semi-Trucks that were wrecked in last weeks round of icy and snowy conditions. Read Story Here.

The first closure was at Mile Marker one in Kentucky on Interstate 24. The semi-truck was raised nearly 100 feet and towed safely away. Then traffic began moving again between Paducah Kentucky and Metropolis Illinois.

The other closures was on Interstate 57. The real issue here was that a gas tank had been ruptured. It had to be cleared for rescue by the EPA before it could be towed. Like the first wreck, it was and traffic began moving again soon thereafter.

Kentucky Drunk Driving Crash 20 Years Ago

Today marked the 20th Anniversary of the Kentucky Drunk Driving School Bus Accident on Interstate 71 in Carrollton.

Click on the above link for a News Article and a Video. The School Bus caught on fire and the children struggled to get out. 27 lost their lives in what has been known as the Worst Drunk Driving Accident in U.S. History.

The School kids were on their way back from a School Field Trip to Kings Island in Cinncinnati when they were hit by drunk driver traveling on the wrong side of Interstate 75.

Kentucky Motorcyclist Struck And Killed By SUV

A Highland Heights man was killed Friday night when his motorcycle was struck by an SUV.

The accident happened just after 10:00 p.m. when Michael Sams, 35, rear-ended a Yamaha motorcycle with his SUV near mile marker 16 on Interstate 65, according to Kentucky State Police.

Charles Shrive, 63, was thrown from his bike and run over by Sams, who fled the scene. Witnesses followed after Sams and he was later detained by Kentucky troopers.

Sams has been charged with second-degree manslaughter, leaving the scene of an accident and aggravated DU, troopers said.

According to the most recent state statistics, there were 2,109 motorcycle crashes in Kentucky in 2008. 102 of them resulted in fatalities.

Lexington Kentucky Teenage Girl Dies After Being Trapped Under Water by a Defective Drain

A young Lexington Kentucky Girl has has died from a Brain Injury that she suffered by being held under water by a Defective Drain. Kiah Milsom was held under water by the defective drain for 20 minutes before rescue workers freed her from the drain. She died after five days in University of Kentucky Hospital.

Milsom and two other teens were swimming in a condominium swimming pool at around 4 am on July 20. The other two teens were charged with Criminal Trespassing.

Defective drains have been a source of Serious Injury and Wrongful Death in the past in many different states. Safety measures have been put in place to protect swimmers from such hazards but swimming pools and drains are still dangerous.

I-71 Re-opens After Accident Fatalities

I-71 is open Friday morning after a deadly accident Thursday night shut it down. A sport-utility vehicle apparently stalled in the right lane around 11 p.m. on I-71 just north of the Gene Snyder Freeway. A tractor-trailer came up on the vehicle slamming into the rear, moving it to the right shoulder, where it caught fire, killing the two occupants. At 12:30 a.m. Friday the deceased's identities had still not been determined and the authorities were still working to retrieve the bodies. The driver of the semi was uninjured and no charges have been filed, according to authorities.

Kentucky Car Wreck Wrongful Death Prompts Immediate Action From the Lawson Family

Bravo Dave and Jennifer Lawson. I wrote about this father and daughter in recent blog where they had lost Dave's wife and Jennifer's twin. There is a powerful video from Wave t.v. in Louisville that details this Kentucky Wrongful Death Car Wreck and the ensuing battle that this family is waging to change safety laws. Watch this video and you will be inclined to join their fight for new cable barriers for all of Kentucky's Highways and Interstates.

The Lawson's website, Barriersnow, (barriersnow@comcast.net) will be launched very soon. Please visit this site often and lend your comments and help to this family. With the Lawsons taking the lead, we could petition enough lawmakers in Frankfort Kentucky to make the changes and alot the money necessary to install the barriers.

Other states such as Illinois in particular have already erected these safety barriers. There is research and case studie that these safety measures do indeed save lives. This battle may seem to some as an uphill fight at first glance. However, Dave Lawson has already fought in Vietnam and in Desert Storm so he is used to fighting the good fight.

Livingston County Kentucky Car and Semi Truck Wreck on Interstate 24 is Called Worst Ever

A head on collision last week between an Indiana Car and Semi Truck in Livingston County is being called the Worst Ever Wreck in Livingston County by Authorities.

Authorities also remain puzzled as to how to Evansville Indian Women ended up in Western Kentucky. Wilma Joyce Schoonover, 80, and Nadine Coleman, 85, died around 10 PM last Thursday Night when the car they were driving crossed the Interstate 24 Median and stuck a Semi Truck Head On. Their car was hit and thrown some 75 yards backwards from the impact.

The two women had left to visit a friend in a Nursing Home at 8:30 on Thursday Morning. They had been reported missing by Evansville Police.

The Latest on The Kentucky Hit and Run Wrongful Death of Connie Blount

I wanted to post an update on a story that many people have been following and the rocked the University of Kentucky Campus and stunned the people of the Commonwealth of Kentucky as well as those from Utah. Connie Blount, 18, of Park City, Utah, was a Freshman and studying equine science as well as a member of the UK Equestrian Riding Team. She was killed early last Sunday Morning in a Hit and Run Car Wreck in Downtown Lexington Kentucky.

A Memorial Service was held in her honor Monday on the University of Kentucky Campus. Her Father, Jack Blount, announced late that day that Police had impounded the Chevrolet Truck that hit and killed his daughter. One Utah Radio Station reported that Police said that they had a person of interest in the case. This person has yet to be identified.

Currently, a person who leaves the scene of a Hit and Run Accident in Kentucky can not be charged with a felony. I wrote a blog at my Kentucky Personal Injury Website detailing the law and how it is sure to outrage lawmakers and Kentuckians. Connie's family will have a Kentucky Wrongful Death Civil Case against the Driver of the Truck.

Tanya Clark Dies of Head Trauma After Pulaski County Kentucky Crash

Tany Clark, 32, from Indiana, died at the UK Chandler Medical Center on Tuesday from Head Injuries that she suffered in a massive Pulaski County Kentucky Car Wreck.

Clark had stopped as the car in front of her was going to turn. As she stopped a car came from behind her hitting her in the rear end where she was forced into the other lane. She was then t-boned by a SUV.

Clark was one of several that were airlifted to UK to the Chadler Medical Center. Clark's family will likley have a Civil Claim for Kentucky Wrongful Death under this set of facts against the car that hit her in the rear.
