Kentucky Car Wreck Wrongful Death Victim's Family Wants Barriers on Interstate 65

There have been eight Kentucky Car Wreck Wrongful Deaths on Interstate 65 this year in Hart County alone. Each week on my InjuryBoard Sites, bowlinggreen.injuryboard.com and western-kentucky.injuryboard.com, I try and give these statistics as they relate to the state of Kentucky as a whole.

Finally, family members of several of the Victims of these Deadly Kentucky Car Wrecks are speaking out for change. They are demanding cable barriers from Kentucky Lawmakers to make Kentucky Roadways Safer.

Lexington Kentucky Teenage Girl Dies After Being Trapped Under Water by a Defective Drain

A young Lexington Kentucky Girl has has died from a Brain Injury that she suffered by being held under water by a Defective Drain. Kiah Milsom was held under water by the defective drain for 20 minutes before rescue workers freed her from the drain. She died after five days in University of Kentucky Hospital.

Milsom and two other teens were swimming in a condominium swimming pool at around 4 am on July 20. The other two teens were charged with Criminal Trespassing.

Defective drains have been a source of Serious Injury and Wrongful Death in the past in many different states. Safety measures have been put in place to protect swimmers from such hazards but swimming pools and drains are still dangerous.

Tanya Clark Dies of Head Trauma After Pulaski County Kentucky Crash

Tany Clark, 32, from Indiana, died at the UK Chandler Medical Center on Tuesday from Head Injuries that she suffered in a massive Pulaski County Kentucky Car Wreck.

Clark had stopped as the car in front of her was going to turn. As she stopped a car came from behind her hitting her in the rear end where she was forced into the other lane. She was then t-boned by a SUV.

Clark was one of several that were airlifted to UK to the Chadler Medical Center. Clark's family will likley have a Civil Claim for Kentucky Wrongful Death under this set of facts against the car that hit her in the rear.

Illinois Wrongful Death Lawsuit a Possibility in Case of Ryan Rendleman

The life of SIU Student Ryan Rendleman was cut short way too soon. A Tractor Trailer Driver that was not paying attention slammed into the back of Rendleman's car killing him in Southern Illinois.

An Illinois Wrongful Death Lawsuit is likely given the facts of this case. The family of Ryan Rendleman would have case against the Driver as well as the Company that he drove for while he was on duty. The Latest on The Kentucky Hit and Run Wrongful Death of Connie Blount

I wanted to post an update on a story that many people have been following and the rocked the University of Kentucky Campus and stunned the people of the Commonwealth of Kentucky as well as those from Utah. Connie Blount, 18, of Park City, Utah, was a Freshman and studying equine science as well as a member of the UK Equestrian Riding Team. She was killed early last Sunday Morning in a Hit and Run Car Wreck in Downtown Lexington Kentucky.

A Memorial Service was held in her honor Monday on the University of Kentucky Campus. Her Father, Jack Blount, announced late that day that Police had impounded the Chevrolet Truck that hit and killed his daughter. One Utah Radio Station reported that Police said that they had a person of interest in the case. This person has yet to be identified.

Currently, a person who leaves the scene of a Hit and Run Accident in Kentucky can not be charged with a felony. I wrote a blog at my Kentucky Personal Injury Website detailing the law and how it is sure to outrage lawmakers and Kentuckians. Connie's family will have a Kentucky Wrongful Death Civil Case against the Driver of the Truck.

Kentucky Car Wreck Wrongful Death Prompts Immediate Action From the Lawson Family

Bravo Dave and Jennifer Lawson. I wrote about this father and daughter in recent blog where they had lost Dave's wife and Jennifer's twin. There is a powerful video from Wave t.v. in Louisville that details this Kentucky Wrongful Death Car Wreck and the ensuing battle that this family is waging to change safety laws. Watch this video and you will be inclined to join their fight for new cable barriers for all of Kentucky's Highways and Interstates.

The Lawson's website, Barriersnow, (barriersnow@comcast.net) will be launched very soon. Please visit this site often and lend your comments and help to this family. With the Lawsons taking the lead, we could petition enough lawmakers in Frankfort Kentucky to make the changes and alot the money necessary to install the barriers.

Other states such as Illinois in particular have already erected these safety barriers. There is research and case studie that these safety measures do indeed save lives. This battle may seem to some as an uphill fight at first glance. However, Dave Lawson has already fought in Vietnam and in Desert Storm so he is used to fighting the good fight.

If Dave and Jennifer can get our support, this is another battle that can be won. Please leave your questions and comments below and feel free to leave the Lawson's any message that you want as they are frequent visitors of this site.

Train Crash Kills Two in Walton Kentucky

Wednesday morning was deadly on the train tracks at 29 North Main Street in Walton, KY, where a father and son were killed when the 1982 Chevrolet truck they were in was struck while crossing the tracks. The truck was dragged more than 1,000 feet and caught on fire. It is unclear whether the crash impact or the fire was the cause of death. This was the third train accident in Kentucky in as many days. Boone County Sheriffs office said the lights were working at the crossing at the time of the accident.

Couple Killed In Motorcycle Wreck

A couple from Ashland, Mark and Teresa Stone, were killed around 5:55 Sunday in a motorcycle/car accident.

Mark, age 55, was driving eastbound on Kentucky 733 when he lost control of his motorcycle on an S-curve, crossed the center line, and hit another car. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His wife, age 56, was airlifted to a hospital and died at 9:15 that night.

Motorcycle accidents and fatalities have been on the rise since 1997. In 2004, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued an alarming report, stating that 4008 motorcyclist died and 76,000 were injured. Kentucky Bus Crash But Without Injury

There was another Kentucky Bus Crash, this time in the tiny Western Kentucky town of Kevil. But this time there were no injuries and no deaths. Late last week a Kentucky Bus Crash killed one student in Pendleton County Kentucky.

This Kentucky Bus Crash was the result of another driver smashing into the back of the School Bus. As you can see in the pictures this was not a regulation school bus but rather one that transported Pre School Children. Therefore, there were seatbelts used and they may have prevented any students from being hurt.

I wrote on the topic of Seatbelt Safety on School Buses last week.

A Suspect Has Been Arrested in the Kentucky Hit and Run Wrongful Death of Connie Blount

A man has been arrested in connection with the Kentucky Hit and Run Wrongful Death of Connie Blount, a University of Kentucky Freshman from Park City, Utah.

The suspect is Shannon Houser of Lexington. He told police that he was at home resting on the night of the Kentucky Auto Accident, but his cell phone records say different. In addition, the police collected other evidence such as hair from his truck. He had removed the front grill and other parts of his truck.

However, in Kentucky, Leaving the Scene of an Accident is not a Felony, but rather a Misdemeanor. Houser is charged with a Class D Felony for Tampering with Evidence. This could land him in prison for up to 5 years.

The Accident Report, which was released earlier this week, showed that Blount was out in the street. This could mitigate some of Houser's Leaving the Scene Charge but will do little for him on his Tampering with Evidence Charge.

As for the Civil Case, Kentucky is a Comparative Negligence (or Comparitive Fault) State. That means that a Defendant will be liable for Damages in direct proportion to the Fault that a Jury might place on them.
